today is taylor's first dance recital.  yesterday was dress rehearsal and i was that mom that got teary eyed watching my daughter dance.  dance was a huge part of my childhood...i danced for 16 yrs and my parents attended countless recitals and performances. it feels really special being on the other side watching taylor do the same thing.
*i wish i was creative enough to have a ballerina inspired party waiting for her after the recital...instead it will most likely be pizza :)

As pretty as the fancy kids parties are there's nothing wrong with keepin' it real Mama and having pizza! There's only so much time in the day and there's nothing more special than having your own family's post-event ritual.

May is recital season! I watched three recitals on Saturday surrounded by the girls I grew up dancing competitively with. Dance is wonderful. I cried and I didn't even know the little girls dancing, I was just so proud to see the work my friends put into choreography and costumes. Your tiny dancer is adorable :)

Shannon,
Not only did I cry when I watched her, but as she got older, I would count her steps, as she had rehearsed so much at home, I knew them myself. As a working woman, a few years out of college she continues to take ballet classes, and is involved with the city ballet where she lives. It has brought her such joy.

Beautiful ballerina and a beautiful outfit. My 13 year old loves ballet and dances every day. There is nothing I would rather do than watch her.
