so if you don't go to yard sales, you are just missing out. now i am not going to lie and say i totally
love going. and if you had been with us last weekend when we went, i would have sworn that i would never go back. but, you have to take the good w/ the bad- and when it is bad, it's REAL bad (last week happen to fall in this category). but i am constantly reminded why it is good. for example, this awesome Pottery Barn puppet theater/ lemonade stand. this is something i would have never bought for full price but when GiGi spied it at a yard sale, it was a must have... especially w/ the price tag of $10. i cannot tell you how much fun taylor and my mom have had putting on puppet shows....which brings me to my next subject: discount stores. we all go to TJ and Marshalls but when was the last time you went to Big Lots (i have no idea the last time i was there)...but my parents were wasting time while their dog was getting groomed and stopped in. and guess who they ran into....Martha. now do you think martha stewart is dying knowing that her line is now at a discount store? well, they scored these adorable
puppets for $2. i happen to be on the phone w/ mom while she was there and i asked if they had the
tissue pom poms and they did....again $2. i want to put them over taylor's bed (a quick, inexpensive way to add something interesting to her room). so think yard sales and discount stores the next time your child is bored....you just never know what you are going to score!!
*oh and i couldn't help but include a pic of taylor playing at the computer last night....notice anything missing...her mullet! i got her haircut for the first time last week...major improvement :)

love the computer picture...it only gets better...my daughter is four and now plays at my computer talking about "emails" and "dotcom" and "paint swatches"...do you think I do too much work in front of her :)
it was so nice meeting you last week at the book sale in beaufort. hope you had a great visit with your parents. i got the same pb stand at a yard sale a few years ago for $5. my children love it- they have art & origami sales, lemonade stand, and we have even let the school class borrow it for a while. fyi- we used the martha stewart paper pom poms for a party and they had a terrible smell. hope to run in to you again sometime.
I can not even believe that you found the puppet show set! That is just awesome!! I would love to find one of those!!
I have been wanting ot go to Big Lots and I am going today!!
Have a great day!!
Oh yes- love Marshalls. Yesterday I saw king size Frette sheet sets for $299.99. I almost died because I know no one around here will buy them...
Wow, what great bargains!
Great reminder on Big Lots. My mom loves that place... but I forget to go.
Taylor is precious.
Wow! The puppets and theater are adorable. Your baby is precious. :)
What a great find! My girls would've loved that when they were younger. By the way-love your blog recommended by Blue Hydrangea!
Your sweet little daughter has a bit of curl in her hair? Just like mom? So darling. And she knows where to go on the computer... isn't that Pink Wallpaper?
I love going to yard sales. It is a bit of an addiction. I have found great club chairs, wing backs, and ottomans that I have had reupholstered. All great finds.
I love your blog, and while looking at it this morning I saw where you wanted to do the pom poms over your sweet daughters bed, well I just did the same thing to one of our daughters room, and if you have a Micheals craft store, all of the Martha Stewart Pom Poms are on clearance for $5.00.... Enjoy!!!!
I totally picked some of those puppets up last week!! I also got the cute owl frame you can make with your kids.
BTW, your daughter is precious!!!
Tomorrow..I'm headed to Big Lots! Love the pics of Taylor..too cute!!
Those puppets are so adorable. I remember doing craft projects like that when I was a kiddo.
I have just started going to garage sales, discount store and shopping via craigslist. I am amazed at the discounts out there. Score on the PBK stand, so cute and fun.
Hey, thanks for commenting on my house that was posted on My Blue Hydrangea.
I really like your blog, your style and postings... therefore, I am nearly certain that you don't need a bit of help in your own house. :)

I told you that you could get her haircut and look how cute it is!!! And the puppets are so much fun...i made those with E when he was little and we had so much fun...poor deprived Mia! :) But now she can come and play with Tay's!!!
Yard sales, flea markets and discount stores are the best...they are hit or miss but when its a hit its usually a total hit! Love your finds!
i find things time to time at big lots. i'm going to have to check it out though b/c i love those pom poms! they are great to decorate with.
So cute! You've inspired me to check out our big lots in CA. Let me know if you have any insider tips for flea markets or discount stores in so cal. I haven't been able to find any reasonable flea markets or antique stores in So Cal, since moving here from Texas 2 years ago! My shopping, and home, are suffering! Love your blog!
I bought some adorable Martha Stewart stamps for $1 last week at Big Lots. They were precious and a great deal - the same ones I had seen at Micheal's last year for $10.00. I also love thrift stores for inexpensive finds. Our Goodwill, Big Lots, and my favorite flea market are all in one shopping center by my house. You can't beat that!
We have tons of Big Lots in Ga. I love them. Ours has the Martha crafts too!
i love the puppets! so cute. and i LOVE your desk chair too!!!!
How did you hang the pom-poms? I tried taping them to the string.. that was attached to the pom pom...umm not so much! They fell
1 hour later!:( Help
Thanks Melissa

where did you find your desk chair?
i just recently found your blog.
i love it.
that is adorable!
My friend and I were recently talking about how we as a society are so hooked onto electronics. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further innovates, the possibility of uploading our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I daydream about all the time.
