i have definitely spotted a trend in the "art" of hanging pictures...it's no longer just a single picture on a wall or a small grouping of pictures...it's all about self expression and the more the better....there is no system to it; it's simply you and your hammer and whatever feels right...

I wish I had that many things to hang on my walls!
Awesome post! I love this.
I love hanging art in groups like this, gallery walls are my fav! I live in an apartment with high ceilings, so grouping lots of things together makes so much more of a statement then just one piece of art alone.
I love the pics you posted, they are great!
I love the 3 pics of a woman's torso! How fun!
Jennifer Allwood
love the top picture!
They're all fab but the first gave me a little heart flutter. This was a pretty post.
I agree. Its the arrangement that brings out the beauty in the art pieces. lovely!
Great post! It's all about how you hang your art, it's not like one painting and your done. Takes a lot more work, but looks so much better :)
I love the nostalgic reminiscence engendered by the steam-punk ceiling decor and the chicken-coop bookshelves! It harkens back to my days before women of taste entered my life and led me to the light of civilization. It just shows that true talent can take the most ubiquitous and grimy of day-to-day objects and transform them to art in the eyes of any beholder!! Viva la InDe!
(nope not a dupe, just imperceptive of fine print that is the line in the sand!)
I love picture groupings, they're so indicitive of a personality don't you think?
I love picture groupings, and I think (though I am not sure) that the third one down might be Suzanne Kasler?
Anyway, do you think that you should have only one or max two picture groupings in your house, or at least on the same level of your house? I seem to prefer picture groupings to having a big piece of art, but have been limiting myself to one grouping on the first floor. I once saw a house where the owner had framed groupings in virtually every room, and it irritated me. I have a beautiful series of framed antique egg prints in my living room, and since it is the only framed grouping I have, it has a lot of impact. However, I am just about to pull the trigger on having a series of intaglios framed for my stairs...8 of them....they are not in the sight line of the framed egg prints, so I am trying to convince myself it is OK!
I enjoy the 'no rhyme or reason' of displays. They are just a statement.
I just found your Blog and I love it! I posted about your Blog on mine. I am jealous that you live in Charleston, it is one of my favorite cities!
I absolutely agree---there is so much you can do to spice things up!
