i inherited my love for antiques and vintage finds...my parents have taken me to antique stores my entire life. i spent many saturdays wondering around the huge warehouses at lakewood and scotts...unfortunately, i could have cared less at the time...it pains me to think about it. i would kill to be able to go to lakewood now (may it rest in peace)!
for christmas and my birthday a couple of years ago, my mom and dad gave me a vintage bread box and flour tin. i adore them. i have always wanted one b/c that is where we always kept our bread growing up. i can't wait until i have a kitchen with open cabinetry where i can really show them off....but in the mean time, i'll enjoy them sitting on my counter and giving me thoughts of home.

I agree with you, Lakewood was such a great place! I miss it as well! I also LOVE the third picture down! Those cabinets are so beautiful!
I love the third picture!
Although I'm young I too think of all the times my mom dragged me to the antique stores and i missed all these fabulous finds. Those kitchens look fabulous and love the look of those bread boxes. I'm torn between modern design and vintage design..I feel my place will be rather eclectic. great post.
we have an awesome antique store back home. The women who run it are pros. They actually travel all over the south, east coast, and some out west. Their finds are amazing, and I want to take it all home with me!
Love those cabinets, the farmhouse sink, and that huge
chalkboard....love it!!!
Love the dining table with all of the different distressed chairs.
i've seen this kitchen on a few blogs, but only one pic, i appreciate the full view, i love the cabinetry
Oh such fun parents to take you antiquing!
Even though you didn't love back it then it must have stuck with you which is the important part.
Lovely images and so sweet of mom and dad to get you one.
okay, I was just about to post about these! I love them! I saw one a few weeks ago, but didn't want to spend the money. I want to say it was $70. was that too much? a good deal? I don't really have a frame of reference on these guys.
My husband and I had our best dates at Lakewood. He still stalks antique stores for miniature chairs for our collection. But the best ones were found at Lakewood in its heyday.
I love the kitchen photos. I want to pull up a chair, pour a soup-mug sized cup of coffee, and hang out all morning!
i have a new bread box i got at Tuesday Morning a few years ago. It had one tiny dent and I got it for around 11.00...i didn't mind the dent...made it look older! love the 2nd picture of heather chadduck's kitchen!
what a charming kitchen! i could cook their forever...and i don't cook!
xoxo

great post. these seem to be a hot topic of late. they are everywhere. i have one! got mine on ebay 4 years ago. i just did a post on my blog where i found some really cool black ones!! check it!
I have always loved those bread boxes too... what great images you've found!
Great kitchen styles, so true to where these bread boxes would best fit in! Makes me want to go shopping for one. My bread currently has no home and I think it now needs one.
