enter

the entryway of your home is the first impression people see upon entering your house...would they stop and linger or would they just pass it by....is it a firm hand shake or a soft one?

Oh good question. Right now I'm thinking that my entry way is a bit blah. I have a game plan to fix it up, but it's not there yet.

Yay for your mention in the Washington Post this week!

My entry is just sad. When you open the front door directly in front of you are the white sliding doors to the coat closet. The floor is beige. I'm thinking of putting slate or even old brick down on the floor, but what to do about the doors? Suggestions please?

I think its a soft one...should be reflective of your style, but not like you tried to hard. I love the metallic foil wall in the top picture!

when you walk into my front door you see a giant closet door (why is it so big?!) and a giant television! ehh.

woah we are on the same page here today--I just did a post on entry ways too! I love the one with stacked books on floor. swoon!

This is a very good reminder that I need to repaint my front door! Entryways are key, I totally agree with you.
Congrats on the Washington Post nod! Nice job.

Our entries (two front doors!) are a bit blah-ish. They're really tight to enter, so there's no room for a table or cute little furniture. But...you've got me thinking!

You are so right about the entry way. Love how your compare it to a handshake. Love the collage in the last photo and that octagonal mirror and lucite tabletop are such a wonderful combo.

Great inspiration! I can't wait to have an entry one day.
Congrats on the Post mention!

my entry is a room. no definitive space to label "entry". but there is a desk with a lamp and several catch-all plates and bowls. it works.

Mine is a no handshake considering you walk directly into the living room (which is pretty, but not quite the same thing as a formal entry). It is the #1 thing I don't like about our house and am plotting to remodel ASAP.

No handshakes at our house. We give big hugs! Now, what does my entry decor say? Oooo, that's a good one. I hope it hugs too.

So glad I found your blog through Lisa Porter. Isn't she a doll?
