I so enjoyed your post. We are big fans of travel, geography and maps, one world map hangs beautifully framed in our dining room and is almost daily used for 'were is' contests, a USA map I did cut in half and stuck it behind two large glass door panels in our family room, so the kids learn to see the states, capitals and it all is more fun. Would love one day a wall large enough for an antique map of Paris! Love that look.
Slightly..but never in stone.. you just never know where life will take you or when. I am all about goals and life plans and working them but some things just happen when they are suppose to. Love the maps. I just bought a huge one for a wall in my living room.
I try to remember that I can close my eyes and point all I want, but ultimately God has a plan...I just need to be willing to choose His - instead of my own!
To answer your question, I feel like no matter how hard we plan, mapping out our lives will inevitably lead to letdowns here and there. Better to be easy-going in my opinion. I think overall people will be happier.
On another note, my sis is obsessed with maps. I'm definitely forwarding this her way. :)
I'm directionally challenged. I have ZERO sense of direction... but that kinda makes me loves these maps even more. Can't live with them, can't live without them. xoRH
so many pretty maps/ globes... there's a vintage tuquoise globe i LOVE at a thrift store near me taht I've been eyeing but I already have a globe.. these pics are making me want it!!
I have a small obsession with maps. I love them all-on the wall, folded, and globes. Ironically though, I don't own a single one! I keep looking for the perfect one to start my collection, but these photos have inspired me to just get out and start already!
I love the idea of closing your eyes and pointing. I am dying to do that for a trip next year...spontaneity is such an attractive concept. Although it is rare to find these days.
Hello there! Just discovered you and saw this post about maps, how wonderful. One of my blogs is about the reno that we are going to be doing soon and one thing I wanted to do, was to add a map of our travels and future travels into the room. This gives me a few ideas, thanks.
I really like these old school maps & old maps reused for other purposes!
