today is not my day.  period.  i want to start over: this time, taylor's missing tennis shoe will be right where all of her other shoes are.  and i will not have thrown a tantrum looking for it 5 minutes before we were supposed to be leaving for cheerleading camp.  and my house would not look like a bomb went off b/c i dumped all of our toy baskets out fanatically looking for that one silly shoe....i didn't find the shoe and we were late to the first day of camp.  tay is use to it.  the first day of ballet, she had to go shoeless b/c i couldn't find her ballet shoes.  i constantly beat myself up on why i am that mom.  i hate it.

  2. bless your heart... I was raised by a wonderful mom who couldn't ever find my right shoe either. I am sure it's beyond frustrating... but if it makes you feel any better-- you are creating such a sweet soul that can just go with the flow! Keep your chin up mama, and as always, thanks for the honesty, it's refreshing!

  3. Ditto to Ms. Bright. We all struggle. I was ransacking the house for Crocs this morning so my son could do water play at camp this morning. I'd left them out in the backyard for the past 2 days and they were filthy when finally found. AND just realized I forgot to sign him in at drop off, AGAIN (I think I have remembered 2 times in 3 weeks)! We all feel like that mom, just not all are willing to admit it...a friend of mine calls them the "mompetitors". Don't let their illusion of perfection bring you down!

  5. Don't be so hard on yourself - no one is perfect and we all have "off" days. And those Perfect Moms? psst: they don't exist! :)

  6. I'm that mom also...couldn't find my head if it wasn't attached. Always late, always loosing things, especially those darn keys. So you are not alone and you are an amazing mom. And as for those who we think are'"perfect" moms, guess what, they're not, no such thing! And my house is always a mess.

  7. No one is perfect, not even That Mom! She's probably on prozac and has a nanny and a housekeeper. You are a wonderful mom and wife and just because Tay is missing a shoe doesn't mean you aren't doing a great job at balance motherhood and life...those are the lessons Tay is going to take from you. If anything, it means that Walker has found out how to play hide and seek and he's far advanced for his age. :)

  8. I wholeheartedly agree with Kristen above - and what is the deal with kids and shoes? We have a shoe basket, but they are never there. never. xoxo michele

  11. Any mother who says she's never had a "lost a shoe and late to camp" kinda day is lying. And trying to make you feel bad. And should be avoided at all costs. I always tell my kids if it weren't for these moments, we wouldn't have any fun stories to tell.....

  15. Darlin' I can beat the missin' shoe incident...

Last week we attempted to let our six month old 'cry it out' for the first time to so she could learn to comfort herself at bedtime. She cried for what felt like FOREVER and then mercifully fell asleep. When we went to check on her, we saw that her leg was caught between the crib bars/slats. I burst into tears and felt like the world's worst mom! She's okay but I think I'm scarred for life! Motherhood seperates the women from the girls. Some days I feel like a woman and some days I feel like a girl who doesn't know what she's doing! Thank you for being so honest.

ps. I took ballet from the time I was three years old. My mom had a cute little bag just for my ballet stuff. It was my 'big girl' job to look after my 'ballet purse' which I loved. Just a thought...
