it's so sad when our favorite magazines go out of business but i have to say, i get a huge smile on my face when i find old images from them....here are some great ones from blueprint. at the time it was out, i felt like it was a little too much like domino (god rest it's soul)...but now that both are gone, i feel like there is a major slump in my taste of design mags.....
*sigh* come on economy, turn around!!
*all images courtesy of blueprint magazine
no kidding! i am jonsing (is that how you write that?) a god, relevant, young and stylishly attainable design mag. we're left with elle decor and veranda?! nice mags, but nothing like the oldie but goodies. why did the best have to go out of biz????
ReplyDeleteI too am missing the mags. I buy Living Etc from England because it is the most like Domino, but it is expensive.
ReplyDeleteI love your old photos that you posted! We just painted our house the same blue as the first picture and I was wondering what to paint the front door. I am just LOVING that green! Now if I could only get my husband to agree.....
Great images! Thanks for sharing. I miss those magazines. I spend a lot more time looking at design blogs now. Do you have the source for the two rugs in the photos?
ReplyDeleteGreat images. I loved Blueprint... and Domino... and Cottage Living. Those were three of my favorites. So sad.
ReplyDeleteits sooo sad theres nothing left
ReplyDeletegreat images! i hope they all return again one day!
ReplyDeleteThere certainly is a huge hole in the attainable design magazine world. I used to get Blueprint, Domino and Cottage Living. So sad. Though I will say that Better Homes and Gardens is getting better, still the paper quality irks me.
ReplyDeleteI really hope that one day, Domino will be resurrected!
ReplyDeleteCrap - I had forgotten about Blueprint...now I'm sad again... :-(
ReplyDeleteI actually like House Beautiful the best now. But I miss Domino. I think design blogs are taking the place of shelter mags for many of us. Maybe it's not just the economy-maybe we design bloggers are partly to blame! ;)
ReplyDeletesometimes I hide with old things like these, "that were" and eat an old candy bar or bowl of cherries and feel much better.
ReplyDeleteopportunity knocks for a new down to earth mag...with great style. anybody listening?
Oh how I miss both! We didn't realize how good we had it!
ReplyDeleteYes its sad...and we are all just blogging...right?
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I also was curious about the rugs and their source. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. I now subscribe to House Beautiful. While I think there is a lot to give a thumbs up to with respect to HB, no publication come close to filling the gaping hole left by Domino and Blueprint.
ReplyDeleteBlueprint too? I only read it once in a while, but I was never disappointed. What are we all going to do for reading material now?
ReplyDeleteI am lost when I go into stores to to buy magazines now...I am really, truly saddened by the loss of so many mags., especially Domino. All the good magazines are gone! Slump is right. :(
ReplyDeleteHouse Beautiful is definitely the best now{to me} and has always been a great one. Love these images! Can't believe so many great magazines went under- I wonder why advertising is fine for Veranda {which never seems fresh or different to me}, but not for fun Domino and Cottage Living?!
ReplyDeletethe bed (2nd photo) looks so inviting and cozy! i adore your blog -B
ReplyDeleteI have every single one of these images on my inspiration board. That front door is the cutest.
ReplyDeleteFYI...That adorable couple on the front cover ,in front of the fab green door are married in real life. So cute, I love that cover:)I went to a wedding with them in Italy ,they live in NYC FUN!
