it's official...i am a hoarder. not in the sense of dirty garbage taking over my house...but rather, i'm a hoarder of ideas, fabrics, and pictures. i hold onto them forever, contemplating what i am going to do with them (drives my husband batty). this addiction applies only to my own house and decorating it. i finally made a decision for taylor's room. i am using quadrille's paradise background. done, no take backs!! now, i just need to decide how i am going to use it. she has two twin beds in her room. i am thinking bed canopies.....and i kind of want to tackle it as a diy project (have any of y'all tried this). so as a confessed hoarder, here is my collection of bed canopies.....i am leaning towards pic #1.

oooh I think that sounds like a fabulous idea! It will especially look great over TWO twin beds. Ah! Fab! You can do it, girl!
ReplyDeleteDROOL...
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see the finished room!
What a wonderful idea!! I love picture number 1 and number 3! Those colors in picture 3 are to die for!
ReplyDeletethis is the good kind of hoarding - best of luck on your project!
ReplyDeleteOoohhh - I'm SO jealous! When I was sorting ideas for Avery's Big Girl room, I had Paradise Background pegged as a favorite, AND wanted a canopy, too! I ended up taking the more budget-friendly option, but can't wait to see Tay's room come alive!
ReplyDeleteIf you're a hoarder in this way, so am I! Do you think Taylor would let me come over for a sleep over when her new room is done, because that room is going to be absolutely amazing, I'm sure I will be over here dying of jealousy. Those first bed canopies are so very sweet too!
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see what you do! all of these are so beautiful and such interesting shapes, love them!
ReplyDeleteall those canopies are in my files too! shockingly..its all that yummy indian block print!!! gotta do this next photo shoot!
ReplyDeleteHa! I am such a fabric hoarder, it makes my husband crazy. At least you have the Designer's Attic and are able to part with them. We've moved so often that I kept them all thinking maybe they will work somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do, love canopies!
First of all I am laughing b.c we both did a canopy post today!!! How random is that?!? L O V E the fabric you chose for your little one.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I am feeling relief that someone other than me confesses to this kind of hoarding. I have a storage unit FULL of "potentials" - everything from shelves waiting to be painted, bolts of fabric waiting to be sewn into roman shades, accessories, lamps, chairs that could be wonderful...you name it! Perhaps I'm worse than you. It's a design sickness. And my husband? He has almost pulled his hair out b.c he has to keep moving all of this stuff.
Shannon her room will be beautiful!! I have tear sheets that are totally unorganized and my photos on computer for inspiration that's another story!!

bahaha welcome to the club :) you can totally do this. pic number 6 was a DIY effort, I believe (from Cottage). I think I remember reading that the owners made the pelmet-type boxes out of plywood/MDF and just hung fabric under them. you easily upholster them, too. love this look!
ReplyDeleteyes, i'm a hoarder of fabric and images from magazines and internet too....love the first image also, i think it will be lovely when you have it complete....and do show pics when it's complete..
ReplyDeleteThat #1 pic would be so cute over two twin beds! I say go for it! It will totally make a tailored look!
ReplyDeleteLove that first image! Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be fantastic... looking forward to seeing the finished post! xo Erica
ReplyDeletePretty Pics !!! I am right there with you on the fabric ! I'll be glad to help you on the canopy, email me if you have questions. I think you'll like my current post, check it out !

Number seven is calling my name! This is the best kind of hoarder to be! :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom and I have the same problem...we have so many photos cluttering our desktops and in various folders! Love the idea for Taylors room...it is going to look amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm making a canopy just like that for our bed! I got my headboard and valance from foam4you on ebay and I'm upholstering tonight.
ReplyDeleteGreat pattern choice!! Pic 2 is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving these canopies! especially the ones with the sofas/daybeds!
ReplyDeleteFor twin bed I really like pic #1. : )
She who dies with the most fabric wins!!! All my favorite people have a little bit of that hoarder gene...so what's wrong with that??
ReplyDeleteFun post...and I like the first one too.

Fabulous choice! I love canopies too but sadly I have zero DIY abilities. I can't wait to see photos of the completed room!
ReplyDeleteOOh that's one of my favorite prints (though admittedly I love Quadrille's ENTIRE line). Really digging picture #2's canopy -- looks totally doable!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics! I love the bed canopy idea. Your fabric selection is fantastic. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Yes! I've done a canopy! I'm quite a DYI'er. It saved lots of money and was quite a project, but I love it! Let me know if you want details!
