random

i have lots of pictures saved for this blog....my husband complains about them constantly and how i am going to crash the computer.  the first picture was saved b/c i loved her fingernails....they look the exact opposite of mine: pretty, polished, and bright red...

big girl.

taylor and i went shopping yesterday in hopes of finding an outfit for picture day.  she informed me that she was a big girl and that she can pick out her own stuff now.  i said "okay, sounds great"....then she exclaimed the only thing she wanted was a pair of princess shoes that light up on the bottom like sarah and jake have (ok maybe jake has buzz light year).  i fought back the urge to say something like "seriously, you like those" or "good, gosh no"!!  i just watched her as she walked out the door w/ bright red flashing lights going off on her cinderella tennis shoes...and she truly couldn't have been any happier :)

monday, monday

yep, it's definitely monday......
i was exhausted from traveling so i took a super long nap yesterday afternoon.  not such a good idea...i found myself staring at the clock at 2:00 AM...then i found taylor staring at me at 6:30.  coffee please.

fun before and after....

before i went to bed last night, i picked up one of my dad's this old house magazines (do y'all read this....it has some good stuff from time to time) and saw this fun before and after kitchen.  i thought y'all might enjoy it too!  the backsplash kind of reminds me of tom scheerer's fabulous kitchens.  i'm away for the rest of the week so i hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!!

it's a strange feeling when you wake up and you have an email saying "did you see this"!   seleta, you rock for filling me in...and San Francisco Chronicle- i love you more than peanut butter hearts jelly for including me in your article.

i survived.

warren had a guys trip this past weekend in the mountains (fly fishing/ tailgating/ football game...aka no wife/ no kiddos invited).  i had the kids solo for 4 days....i admire everyone out there who is a single parent.  i learned i am not good alone (anyone who knows me knows that i'm a chicken).  i don't sleep at night b/c i think that robbers and kidnappers are lurking in the neighborhood, i lost my keys while we were on a shopping excursion and taylor looked at me after about 30 minutes of frantically searching and said "mommy, it's okay...don't cry" (i was totally about to cry)...luckily, the nice people at the gap had them.  i was so happy to see warren when he returned last night....i told him i was glad he didn't find a college girl he liked better then me....and then i went to bed at 8:30 and slept sooo good.

it feels like fall...

i LOVE wagoneers.  when we moved to beaufort, there was one for sale and i thought it was a sign...i begged warren for it and made him go look at it. i thought it would be so cute to putt around town in.  can't you see fabric bolts sticking out of the back?!  he said it wasn't practical (men)...i told him to think how cute our christmas card would be- a christmas tree on top and barron's head sticking out of the back,  the darby clan propped up against it all decked out in red....cute right?!  anyway, my master plan didn't work and the car sold.  i still love it and maybe one day, i'll own one :)  

can you believe it's october!!  i saw this recipe last week and I am dying to try it...might just have to whip this up this weekend!!  it seems very fitting for fall and october.  i hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!!

running.

last week i decided that i was going to dust off my tennis shoes and start running again. it's been over a yr and a lot has happened in that yr including bed rest and baby #2. i'm not going to lie and say it was a piece of cake. i was actually kind of scared. but i did it w/ baby #2 in tow (i think i prefer running w/ a stroller). and now i am on day 7 of running and i love it. okay, some days i would like to just stay in bed and drink my coffee...and maybe eat a donut w/ chocolate frosting (or two)...but i've got jeans i am trying to fit back into!

that dog....

i feel like i can relate to the look on that dog's face.....like when i go to my closet to put on my running shoes or when i open my bread box to make a sandwich and only have hot dog buns.....

how genius is that powder room??!! love how they incorporated the window and put the mirror on the side wall.

yippee...

it's the weekend and i couldn't be happier.....date night tonight, the library's annual book sale (children's books galore) and a great community yard sale tomorrow! that's my idea of a perfect weekend :)

Chinoiserie....

my heart tends to flutter when i look at pictures of amazing chinoiserie wallpaper....it's so classic and timeless. i think one of my favorite pics is the one of the nursery- how brilliant is that and so unexpected (i'm sure she won't be a diva). i think that is why my heart skipped a beat when i found this....and if there is any left, i'm totally using her ;)
